The School is a cultural and social hub for 40 students and over 36 families. The School continues to put strong emphasis on Armenian reading skills and achieving fluent oral expression for the students, within the set curriculum. The School students attend the Holy Communion monthly and have lessons on religion with Father Martiros.
In 2015-2016 the School re-opened the PreK3 grade level which saw a successful inflow of our youngest students. We had a successful start to the 2016-2017 academic year opening our classrooms to 40 students ranging from PreK3 to 5th grade, recruiting a total of 13 teachers, and adding a new course – Armenian Cultural Art. Additionally, the School successfully continues the Armenian School Choir program.
Through the year the School organizes many events to welcome, entertain, and provide a bonding opportunity for the Houston Armenian community: Lunch with Santa, Christmas Luncheon, Easter Fun Day and Egg Hunt, Sports Fun Day, Family-Fun Day, Fall Festival, and End-of-Year Performance.
The School was established as Sunday School with handful of students in 1966 by Mr. Leon Harrison and Dr. Anna Harrison. With the arrival of Father Terenig Kondralian in 1977, the School emphasized religious instruction alongside the teaching of the Armenian Language.
