  • 1957 The Armenian Women Organization of Houston was founded (now called Women’s Guild).
  • 1963 First parish council appointed by Father Levon Arakelian and approved by Archbishop Sion Manoogian. Parish Council Chairman was Mr. Steve Saxenian.
  • 1965 Bering Dr. property was purchased for $36,000 through the efforts of Mrs. Rose Sanjakian. Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Lena Harrison donated the down payment of $5,000. Consecration of the Bering Drive property.
  • 1966 Church choir was formed by Mr. Hagop Bedevian and he became the first choir director. Mr. Leon Harrison and Dr. Anna Harrison organized Sunday school.
  • 1967 First Community newsletter called “Ararat” was published by Mrs. Helen Bradley Hekimian.
  • 1974 Mortgage of $14,000 on Bering Drive property retired as a result of a one-day fund raising event.
  • 1977 Houston Parish was assigned its first priest, Rev. Fr. Terenig Kondralian. Church services were being held every Sunday. Parish rectory was purchased on Wellman Lane. First Armenian festival held in Memorial Drive. Bering Drive property was sold for $556,000. That same year 3.6 acres site was purchased on Synott Road for $196,020. Sunday services now held at St. Thomas high school Chapel. Ground blessing of the new property by Archbishop Torkom Manoogian.
  • 1979 Church services now held at St. Cyril Roman Catholic Church.
  • 1980 Sam and Lena Harrison donated their home, it was sold for $515,000 and the proceeds were placed in the Church Building Fund.
  • 1982 Consecration of St. Kevork Armenian Church by Archbishop Torkom Manoogian. New Parish rectory purchased near church. Armenian Festival held on church grounds. Former Parish rectory, on Wellman Lane sold.
  • 1983 Hekimian Hall dedicated by Archbishop Torkom Manoogian. Rev. Fr. Nersess Jebejian assigned to the Houston Parish.
  • 1985 Association of the Armenian Church Choirs of America held its annual assembly in Houston. Ordination of Deacon Stepan Nazarian and several Acolytes by Archbishop Torkom Manoogian.
  • 1986 The burning of the mortgage and the final installation of stained glass windows for the church was celebrated. Over 200 parishioners and friends attended the event. Friday night socials were introduced.
  • 1988 Kitchen completely renovated with expenses paid by the Women’s Guild.
  • 1989 Armenian Church Youth Organization of America (ACYOA) National Assembly and Sports Weekend was hosted by St. Kevork ACYOA of Houston. Approximately 450 athletes and guests from all over the United States and Canada participated in the Sports Weekend. Over $120,000 was raised by the Houston Community for the Armenian Earthquake. Additionally, Armenians in Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio raised $80,000 more.
  • 1991 Renovation of the cultural center and the celebration of the 27th anniversary of the establishment of St. Kevork Armenian Church in Houston. Bishop Khajag Barsamian newly elected Primate of the Eastern Diocese presided over the weekend celebrations.
  • 1994 The Arax chorus and the Gomidas children’s chorus were organized. Two concerts were performed by the fifty member chorus under the leadership of Maestro Konstantine Petrossian with ethnic and folk Armenian Songs. St. Kevork Armenian Church of Houston hosted the Eastern Diocese Anuual Assembly and Clergy Conference. Both Arax and Gomidas choruses performed at the closing ceremony. Very Rev. Fr. Noorhan Manookian, was assigned as parish priest to Houston.
  • 1996 St. Kevork Armenian church celebrates its 15th anniversary of the consecration. Armenian Ambassador Shugarian and Archbishop Khajag Barsamian presided over the celebration.
  • 1999 Archbishop Noorhan Manoogian was assigned as Canon-Sacrist “Loosararabed” to the Armenian Patriarcate in Jerusalem. Very Rev. Fr. Baret Yeretzian was assigned as parish priest to Houston.
  • 2000 Very. Rev. Fr. Baret Yeretzian was transferred to the Armenian Patriarcate in Jerusalem. Rev. Fr. Mesrob Benlian was assigned to the Houston parish.
  • 2001 St. Kevork Armenian church celebrates the 20th anniversary of its consecration. Archbishop Khajag Barsamian presided over the weekend celebration. Sunnday school students from St. Kevork Armenian church came in first place in biblical trivia championship competition and brought home the winning trophy. The competition was held at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.
  • 2005 At the occasion of the 90th Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide an Armenian Khatchkar was donated by the Armenian community of greater Houston and erected in front of the Church.
  • 2005 Fr. Kadehjian was appointed as the Parish Priest of St. Kevork Armenian Church in Houston on November 1, 2005.
  • 2006 Fr. Zenob Nalbandian was appointed as the visiting Parish Priest of St. Kevork Armenian Church in Houston on December 1, 2006.
